Topic: Glutathione on Wikipedia

E-mail

The Wikipedia web page on glutathione is a distortion but deeply entrenched in misgivings. The goal of the page is to ensure that the public does not consider or use gluathione orally. It is well absorbed and the precursors do not work but this is key for the selling of pharmaceutical agents where the Universities, FDA and Health Departments are miss-guided into promoting the non-use of glutathione. In my Talk Edit of the page this is what I would say to the "professionals" that control the script of the page:

Innate immune systems provide immediate defense against infection, and are found in all classes of plant and animal life. Ref: Wiki

Nitric oxide is our main innate immune system. It is a powerful vasodilator with a short half-life of a few seconds in the blood. Long-known pharmaceuticals like nitroglycerine and amyl nitrite (poppers) were discovered, more than century after their first use in medicine, to be active through the mechanism of being precursors to nitric oxide. Ref: Wiki

Nitric oxide (NO-) Chapter 71 Joseph Loscalzo, Harrison's Principals of Internal Medicine 14th ED." The production of NO- by iNOS in macrophages, lymphocytes, and neutrophils is an important determinant of immune and inflammatory responses. The bactericidal, fungicidal, viricidal, parasiticidal, and tumorcidal activities of macrophages are determined in part by the robust elaboration of NO- by INOS. "

The pathway is: arginine > O2 > citriline
                     - then plus FAD, FMN, NADPH, BH4, CaM, Heme, RSH                     - results in the short lived NO-
(The RSH is glutathione)

from wiki: "Nitric oxide, known as the 'endothelium-derived relaxing factor', or 'EDRF', is biosynthesized endogenously from L-arginine, oxygen and NADPH by various nitric oxide synthase (NOS) enzymes."

Arginine is deactivated by Lysine

Lysine is high in whey protein
So when the arginine is deactivated the glutathione is not used and we have a weakened innate immune system

Lysine is high in bacteria that cause disease
.

NO- is required for erections.
Wiki: "Similarly, Sildenafil citrate, popularly known by the trade name Viagra, stimulates erections primarily by enhancing signaling through the nitric oxide pathway in the penis.

By taking high doses of whey protein males cannot get erections.
You can Google "whey erectile dysfunction" to see the links and blogs.

My complaint about the Wikipedia:Glutathione page is that it is miss-leading by suggesting that whey is good for us.
In my opinion it is a commercial for the whey industry.

Glutathione is well absorbed by oral routes: See PMID: 2605158
