Very few drugs work on Acinetobacter bacteria and they are becoming resistant to the very broad spectrum Imipenem agent.  Because of this a new antibiotic was developed in 2005 to treat these highly resistant bugs.  It is called Tigecycline and in a new class of drug called glycylcyclines.  They are structurally related to the tetracyclines (doxycycline, minocycline).  Full Screen ( 0 Votes On This Page ) |
